Sustainability on several fronts

Last week was a big week for my family. First, I took and passed my first LEED exam, so I now have LEED Green Associate status.

Next, I plan to take one of the LEED AP specialty exams. I am interested in working with any organization seeking LEED certification (I’m leaning toward Existing Buildings: Operation and Maintenance, but could be persuaded to attempt another exam first).  So, if you know of a building owner who is interested in obtaining LEED certification, please leave a comment (below).

Also, I joined USGBC Maryland.  They appear to have several interesting committees and continuing education programs that I am hoping to join.  If you are a member, let’s connect.

On Thursday I went to my son’s What I did this summer presentation at the UMBC medical research lab.  It was titled Obtaining Direct NMR Evidence of the HIV-1 Kissing and Duplex Dimer Formations.  Say that three times fast!  It seems like just yesterday that we were scurrying around the house looking for something for kindergarten show and tell.  He did a great job – just like when he was in kindergarten – although I didn’t understand much of it.  I think I’ll stick to saving the planet and let him cure HIV/AIDS/save the people!

Please keep the good and creative ideas coming guys! I especially liked the posts on making a business case for sustainability. That’s where the rubber meets the road.

    Thanks! We will!
